Should Resignation Be Withdrawn After Workplace Injury?

by admin on June 27, 2010

I tendered my written Letter of Resignation (30 days notice) from my job as a Contractor in Kuwait last week. I was subsequently involved in a traffic accident while being transported to work in a company provided Leased Bus. I sustained injuries which included a Shoulder Dislocation and Lower Back Injury. I am currently out of work on Medical Leave. Should I withdraw my Letter of Resignation pending the outcome of my medical recovery or does it matter as far as insurance coverage and Worker’s Compensation Claims are concerned? Hope there is someone out there who has had such an experience. Thanks!

It depends on your boss. Formally you have resigned but you should talk with him.

Nevertheless, you were in working at the time of injury, the company has absolute liability to provide medical help and compensation according to the contract and the Law. The company should have brought insurance for you.

Remark: until the last second, you are still their enployee and should be covered by the liability of the company. Otherwise, you should law-suit them, including its big parent company.
