workmans compensation?

by admin on January 27, 2012

I was recently hurt at my job while lifting. I hurt my back, the pain however was not serious enough to call the ambulance. I did however leave work early to get my back checked out by the E.R. doctors in my town. total hours of work missed was 3 and a half hours. while in the E.R. the doctors just basically told me to bend over and said i have a back strain he gave me a prescription for some back pain medicine. and i returned to work the next day worked a full shift and haven’t needed to go back to the hospital for any checkups at all. I was told at my job because i was injured on my job "workman’s compensation" would cover the 3 and a half of hours i missed at work and also the E.R. visit. However upon returning to work the next day i was notified that a co-worker of mine had reported that i really injured my back while playing basketball (Which is not true at all) my boss said she had to put the claim of my co-worker on the "Workman’s comp" claim by law and informed me that if my case was denied i would then have to pay for all hospital bills and use my sick leave to cover the 3 and a half hours of work I missed if I wanted to be paid for them. I now have to write a statement of the events that happened that lead to my injury which i have no problem doing but i was honestly injured on the job and my workman’s comp insurance should take care of the hospital bill at the very least. I don’t have insurance and cant afford insurance at this time. My question is what should I write on my statement? I am going to tell the truth in how i was injured on the job. But is there any legal wordings or mumbo jumbo i can use to help my case. I was also told because i only missed 3 and a half hours and went to the E.R. the total cost to cover my case was "Money wise" was little or nothing to what workmans comp ussually deals with and 90 percent chance they pay my hospital bills and time missed at work in full no questions asked. But this whole process is new to me and i would like your help if possible. Thank you, and please feel free to ask me anymore questions if this one confuses you. =)
